Our HOLDEN VZ COMMODORE HSV GTO is of course the car manufactured by Holden in Australia. The enhanced performance VZ range sold by Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) was released in 2004 as the Z Series. In December 2013, GM announced that it would discontinue all Australian production in 2017. This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu. These novelty number  plates are made from high quality aluminium and the artwork applied by a dye sublimation process with a lovely gloss finish. They measure 37 x 13 cm, exactly the same as the traditional fully embossed type of plate and look just like our other Aussie made novelty number plates; even the mounting holes are in exactly the same positions, so they can easily be hung on display indoors or outdoors. One great advantage the flat non-embossed version is that owing to the absence of embossed border, and being just under 1 mm thick, it’s quite flexible and will flex about 10 cm from the centre, so can be mounted on curved surfaces. Each embossed rim style plate is sealed in a clear plastic sleeve, and each flat non-embossed plate is shrink-sealed in plastic film, so both types are ready for retail display, plus we offer the option of fixing them to a cardboard display card, so they can then be hung and displayed on the same display racks that are used for the other Aussie size plates we sell. To see what the display card looks like please click here For protection during delivery we use extra packing materials to ensure they arrive in tip-top condition If you would like plates made to your own design, we can easily do this for you. Virtually anything you want can be created with our modern digital equipment.  The key is good art, and we can do ANY GRAPHIC!    ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! For more details on how to create a sign or plate to YOUR design PLEASE CLICK HERE Important note about images we provide : Just as we sometimes see that “pricing is subject to change without notice”, so too are “designs subject to change without notice”. In 99.99% of cases, what you see on Dixie’s website or brochure is what you get. However, there are the odd times when designs have changed in some small way (eg: maybe a logo moves to a different location on the item, or the colour changes). Sometimes this information doesn’t always trickle down until the new designs are manufactured and shipped to Dixie. We hope this is helpful and understandable.

Our HOLDEN VF COMMODORE SS is of course the car manufactured by Holden in Australia. It was an executive car produced by Holden between June 2013 and October 2017 and was the second and last significantly restyled iteration of the fourth (and final) generation of the Holden Commodore to be manufactured in Australia. Its range included the sedan and station wagon variants that sold under the luxury Holden Calais (VF) nameplate. Also available was the commercial utility variant that sold under the Holden Ute (VF) nameplate. From 2013 to 2017 an improved version of the Commodore SS V sedan was exported to the United States badged as the Chevrolet SS; an evolution of the badging practice used on the previous-generation Commodore that was sold in North America as the Pontiac G8 from 2008 to 2009, prior to the Pontiac brand being discontinued. Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) used the VF series as the basis of its performance Gen-F sedan, wagon and utility models, which were also exported to the United Kingdom rebadged as the Vauxhall VXR8 range. In December 2013, GM announced that it would discontinue all Australian production in 2017. $23.50$25.10

Our HSV MALOO plate features a super fast car made by Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) - the officially designated performance vehicle partner of Australian marque, Holden. The HSV Maloo is a performance utility that has been produced since 1990 and was based on the Holden Ute. Its distinguishing features have been high-performance V8 engines and full body kits. The name "Maloo" means "thunder" in an Aboriginal language. It is said that former HSV managing director, John Crennan, coined the name for the vehicle after reading a book on Aboriginal Australians. In 2001, HSV introduced a higher "R8" specification. In June 2006, a regular production Z Series Maloo R8 broke the record for the world's fastest production performance pickup, at 271 kph,  beating the previous record holder, a Dodge Ram SRT-10 by 22 kph. The Maloo has been built over the following series: VG (1990–1991) VP (1991–1993) VR (1993–1995) VS (1995–2000) VU (2000–2002) VY (2002–2004) VZ (2004–2007) VE (2007–2013) VF (2013–2017) The most powerful and developed version was the Gen-F 430 kW GTS Maloo, which was launched in November 2014. It featured GTS sedan mechanicals except for the Magnetic Ride Control suspension setup that, due to limited development opportunities, HSV left exclusively for the GTS sedan, Senator Signature and Grange. This Maloo was originally limited to 165 units, later increased to 250 plus 10 for export to New Zealand. It was the first ground up redesign of the Holden line since its original release in 1948, and included an all-new body, chassis, and suspension. $23.50$25.10

Our HOLDEN FB WAGON is of course the iconic Holden. The Holden FB is an automobile that was produced by Holden in Australia from 1960 to 1961. Introduced on 14 January 1960, the FB series replaced the Holden FC range. It was promoted as being longer, lower, more spacious and more powerful than the FC model although in reality it was only slightly so on each count. Overall length was 5.5 inches (140 mm) greater whilst the wheelbase remained the same. The engine remained the same at 3" the last model to have this bore, engine capacity remained at 132 cubic inches and the compression ratio was raised. However the resulting extra 4 brake horsepower (3.0 kW) of power did not compensate for the extra weight of the FB and performance was thus inferior to that of its predecessor. Changes were also made to the brakes, front coil springs, air cleaner and clutch. Obvious styling differences were the lower bonnet, finned rear mudguards with new taillights (on the sedans and wagons only) and a wrap-around windscreen. Seating was improved as was the instrument panel. Notably, the FB was the first Holden model to also be produced in left-hand drive form, these vehicles being destined for export markets. Our HOLDEN VH COMMODORE HDT SS x TWO is of course the car manufactured by Holden in Australia. The Holden Commodore is a car manufactured since 1978 by Holden in Australia and formerly in New Zealand. Production in Australia ceased on 20 October 2017. For the original model, Holden replaced the long-serving Kingswood and Premier large executive cars developed in Australia, with another rear wheel drive platform that was, however, based on a smaller European design by Opel, re-engineered for Australian conditions. Subsequent series became larger, culminating with the fourth generation Commodore, fully developed in Australia and based on the GM Zeta platform. September 1982 saw the release of the Commodore SS, a model that has been a Commodore mainstay ever since. The abbreviation SS stands for "Sports Sedan". Offered with Holden's 4.1 L V8 as standard, the factory SS was supplemented by three up-spec versions produced by Peter Brock's HDT Special Vehicles company. The HDT models were named "SS Group One", "SS Group Two" and "SS Group Three", with the lattermost also featuring the Holden 5.0-litre V8 in a higher state of tune). The SS sedans were initially exclusively Maranello Red in color, but were later also made available in Alabaster White. The Group Three-tuned V8 produces 184 kW (250 PS; 247 hp) at 4750 rpm. $23.50$25.10

Our HOLDEN HZ PREMIER SEDAN is of course the iconic Holden. The Holden HZ was an automobile produced by General Motors-Holden's in Australia from October 1977 to 1980 in a variety of equipment levels and in several different body styles. It was also assembled in New Zealand. The Holden HZ received minor updates to the exterior over the HX series, and saw the introduction of what Holden termed "Radial Tuned Suspension" (RTS) across all models. RTS made significant changes to the suspension of the car, greatly improving the handling finesse, while at the same time not compromising ride quality. Modern Motor magazine described the HZ as "a great handler spoiled by the car" in a comparison against the BMW 528i, contrasted as "a great car spoiled by the handling". In this series, the base specification Belmont was deleted and the new Kingswood SL became the base luxury level for sedans and wagons, with a lower specification Kingswood sedan and wagon only offered as a delete option on the Kingswood SL. During the course of the HZ series, equipment levels were upgraded in 1978 effectively to match improvements in the opposition Ford Falcon range, but the life of the full W size Holden looked set to end following Holden's release of the VB Commodore in November 1978. After 1980, W sized Holden passenger cars were cancelled—replaced by the downsized Commodore. The Kingswood luxury level lived on until 1985 on the WB Holden utility but the end of HZ saw the end of the Holden Premier alongside both the GTS and Sandman which were both deleted prior to the end of the HZ series. • HOLDEN HQ KINGSWOOD WAGON 6CYL

    $23.50$25.10

The HOLDEN HQ KINGSWOOD WAGON 6CYL This image is of a 1973 Holden HQ Kingswood Station Wagon displayed at the Echuca Holden Museum. Its livery is in Balmoral Green with white top and Chestnut trim and the car has featured in Survivor Car Australia magazine. This particular HQ was a special factory optioned vehicle with  202 six cylinder, 4 speed, bucket seats, sports console, air chief radio, GTS instrument dash, mud flaps and outback pack. It is believed that this is the only one of its specification. More broadly the HQ series of 1971 was a completely new design, introducing larger capacity 173-cubic-inch (2.84 L) and 202-cubic-inch (3.3 L) six-cylinder engines, with the continued availability of 253-cubic-inch (4.1 L), 308-cubic-inch (5.0 L) Holden and 350-cubic-inch (5.7 L) Chev V8 engines. HQ was the most radically engineered Holden since the introduction of the original 48-215 model of 23 years prior. It featured a perimeter frame and semi-monocoque construction, and was the first full-size Holden to have coil spring rear suspension. As a cost-saving measure, HQ was only engineered for right-hand drive, hence it was not feasible to sell the car in left-hand drive markets. Thus Holden exports declined from 41,181 in 1973 to just 7,440 in 1975. Over the following years this led to a large decline in export vehicle revenue needed to fund the HQ-HZ series replacement. Despite this, HQ became Holden's most popular car, selling 485,650 units, a total yet to be surpassed in a Holden. It was however, sold over a longer timeframe than previous models. At the time, Holden's then managing director, an American named George Roberts, insisted that the HQ Holdens should "ride like a Cadillac" and that the front suspension be engineered to make the car prone to understeer for "safety reasons". Advertising of the car promoted its "jet-smooth ride" over rough roads. Notwithstanding persistent criticism from many motoring journalists, this policy persisted with the subsequent HJ and HX facelift models. It was arguable whether Australian buyers favoured this engineering philosophy and it was not until the 1977 HZ facelift that radical changes were made to the suspension to improve handling. This plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! For more details on creating a plate to your design please click here Important note about images we provide : Just as we sometimes see that “pricing is subject to change without notice”, so too are “designs subject to change without notice”.

  • HOLDEN HZ GTS

The HOLDEN HZ GTS or HZ GTS "MONARO" as some prefer to call it. Although the Monaro name had survived into 1977 as the HX Monaro GTS sedan, the coupé configuration was no longer in production and Holden decided to delete the Monaro name altogether from the new Holden HZ range. With the development of Radial Tuned Suspension, Holden transformed the bland characteristics of their full-size sedans and introduced a sporting variant called simply Holden GTS. and featured a four headlight grille, front and rear air dams, four-wheel disc brakes, sports wheels and a 4.2-litre V8 engine as standard equipment. The optional 5.0-litre V8 became standard in June 1978 With the November 1978 introduction of the new mid/full-size VB Commodore sedan and its availability with V8 engine power, the days of the GTS appeared numbered. Production of the GTS ceased in December 1978 Critics of late 1970s Monaros say that the four-door HZ was a betrayal of model’s heritage as Australia’s first true muscle car – little more, in effect, than a ‘tizzied’ up Premier. The factor that set HZ Monaros – and all HZ Holdens – apart from their predecessors was Radial Tuned Suspension. Holden’s HQ had introduced in 1971 the brand’s first all-coil suspension, with vastly improved ride quality coming at the price of mid-bend wallow and almost incurable understeer. Yet the fix was a simple mix of revised suspension geometry, a larger anti-roll bar and shock absorbers that transformed the HZ GTS into one of the better handling cars of its era.  Missing, however, was any "on-car" reference to Monaro, and yet Holden’s promotional literature still referred to the car by that name, those that actually appeared on showroom floors were identified only by GTS badges front, side and rear. Power from the locally manufactured V8s had declined markedly since 1974 when rudimentary emission control measures were first introduced. By 1977 the 5.0-litre engine’s official power output had dwindled to 161kW – down 10 per cent on the HQ’s 179kW. The 4.2-litre suffered proportionally less with a six per cent drop to 130kW. A four-speed M21 transmission was standard, with the durable Turbo-Hydramatic a popular alternative. The HZ GTS enjoyed an unspectacular lifespan and disappeared without fanfare during the early months of 1979. Actual production figures are unknown but HZ Monaros are among the rarer performance Holdens. The HOLDEN LJ TORANAS x THREE novelty plate features 3 great Torana models: A Gold ‘GTR - 2 door’; a Yellow ‘6 S - 4 door’ and a Green ‘GTR XU-1 - 2 door’ The Holden Torana - a mid-sized car manufactured by Holden from 1967 to 1980. The name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "to fly". The first Torana (HB series) was released in 1967 and was a four-cylinder compact vehicle with origins in the British Vauxhall Vivas of the mid-1960s. Whilst the 1969-73 (LC and LJ series) cars included more popular, longer-wheelbase six-cylinder versions, and with the 1974-77 (LH and LX series) cars adding eight-cylinder versions to the mix, a range of four-cylinder versions continued for the entire production life of the Torana (with later versions being marketed as the Holden Sunbird from November 1976). Changing tack in Australian motor sport, Holden released the LC Torana GTR XU-1 in 1970, with performance-enhanced drive train and handling. From this time through to the release of the Holden Commodore, the Torana remained Holden's most successful sports performance vehicle, with many victories garnered in rallying and circuit racing. The introduction of the VB Commodore in 1978 was preceded by the arrival of the updated UC Torana/Sunbird twins, but with no sports versions or V8 engine options. The Torana was subsequently discontinued in 1979, followed by the four-cylinder Sunbird in 1980.
