Our HOLDEN VT ACCLAIM WAGON & EXECUTIVE SEDAN is of course the car manufactured by Holden in Australia. The Holden Commodore is a car manufactured since 1978 by Holden in Australia and formerly in New Zealand. Production in Australia ceased on 20 October 2017. Wiki tells us that the Holden Commodore (VT) is an executive car that was produced by the Australian manufacturer Holden from 1997 to 2000. It was the first iteration of the third generation of this Australian made model and the last one to be powered by a locally made V8 engine (1999). Its range included the luxury variants, Holden Berlina (VT) and Holden Calais (VT) but not a new generation utility version. Introduced in August 1997, the VT-series represented Holden's largest development yet. On debut, it won the 1997 Wheels Car of the Year award, resulting in the fourth time that this award was won by a Commodore. It found ready acceptance in the market as many buyers steered away from the more radically designed Ford Falcon (AU), becoming the best selling Commodore and cementing its place as number one in Australian sales at its time. A VT Series II (VT II) was released in 1999, before being replaced by the restyled VX model in 2000. In 1998, the VT formed the basis of a prototype that became the catalyst for the re-introduction in 2001 of the Holden Monaro coupé—a nameplate on hiatus since 1977. First generation VB (1978–1980) VC (1980–1981) VH (1981–1984) VK (1984–1986) VL (1986–1988) Second generation VN (1988–1991) VP (1991–1993) VR (1993–1995) VS (1995–1997) Third generation VT (1997–2000) The highest selling Commodore was the VT model series with more than 303,000 built. VX (2000–2002) VY (2002–2004) VZ (2004–2006) Fourth generation VE (2006–2013) VF (2013–present) This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu. These novelty number  plates are made from high quality aluminium and the artwork applied by a dye sublimation process with a lovely gloss finish. They measure 37 x 13 cm, exactly the same as the traditional fully embossed type of plate and look just like our other Aussie made novelty number plates; even the mounting holes are in exactly the same positions, so they can easily be hung on display indoors or outdoors. One great advantage the flat non-embossed version is that owing to the absence of embossed border, and being just under 1 mm thick, it’s quite flexible and will flex about 10 cm from the centre, so can be mounted on curved surfaces. Each embossed rim style plate is sealed in a clear plastic sleeve, and each flat non-embossed plate is shrink-sealed in plastic film, so both types are ready for retail display, plus we offer the option of fixing them to a cardboard display card, so they can then be hung and displayed on the same display racks that are used for the other Aussie size plates we sell. To see what the display card looks like please click here For protection during delivery we use extra packing materials to ensure they arrive in tip-top condition If you would like plates made to your own design, we can easily do this for you. Virtually anything you want can be created with our modern digital equipment.  The key is good art, and we can do ANY GRAPHIC!    ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! For more details on how to create a sign or plate to YOUR design PLEASE CLICK HERE Important note about images we provide : Just as we sometimes see that “pricing is subject to change without notice”, so too are “designs subject to change without notice”. In 99.99% of cases, what you see on Dixie’s website or brochure is what you get. However, there are the odd times when designs have changed in some small way (eg: maybe a logo moves to a different location on the item, or the colour changes). Sometimes this information doesn’t always trickle down until the new designs are manufactured and shipped to Dixie. We hope this is helpful and understandable.

Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) in 1987 began official modification of high performance variants of the Commodore and its derivatives, under its own nameplate. ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR!

  • HOLDEN FIRST AND LAST

    $23.50$25.10

Our HOLDEN FIRST AND LAST is of course a commemorative plate in recognition of Holden car manufacturing in Australia. Sadly, the iconic Australian car manufacturer HOLDEN ceased vehicle and engine production in Australia on 20 October 2017. Holden began manufacturing cars in Port Melbourne in 1948 but the Elizabeth facility didn’t open until 1958, initially building car bodies before becoming a vehicle assembly line in 1965. Holden factories at other sites in NSW, Queensland and Victoria followed before they too were shut. In the end, Holden will have built a total of 7.6 million cars — including more than 2.3 million Commodores, not including exports — versus Ford Australia’s tally of 5.9 million vehicles and Toyota Australia’s total of 3.4 million. The 48-215 was the first model from General Motors in Australia to bear the Holden name. In mainstream parlance, the official name of "Holden 48-215" was eschewed in favour of the shortened "Holden" designation. Following the replacement of the first Holden, the 48-215 gained the unofficial nickname of Holden FX The 7,687,675th vehicle to be produced by the company and the last car that rolled off the production line in Holden’s Elizabeth factory in Adelaide’s northern suburbs was a Redline Holden Commodore SS-V, which is expected to be a collector’s item. That historic occasion marked the end of almost a century of automotive manufacturing for Australia, and 69 years for Holden. It was the end of the era for the Australian car manufacturing industry There are two versions of this plate as shown in the gallery and drop down menu. One with a plain background and the other with the Aussie flag background This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. PALM COVE is of course the popular tourist centre just north of Cairns in far North Queensland and gateway to Cape York and the Great Barrier Reef. This is our new style  flat and non-embossed plate and for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. To see what the display card looks like please click here. For protection during delivery we use extra packing materials to ensure they arrive in tip-top condition The design and photography of this plate is the property of Dixie Souvenirs If you would like plates or signs made to your own design, we can easily do this for you.

MONTVILLE is a small town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, on the Blackall Range in Queensland, Australia, around 400 metres above sea level. At the 2011 census, Montville and the surrounding area had a population of 886. The first white settlers arrived in the area in 1887 and the town was later named by Henry Smith (who bought a selection of land there in 1893) after a suggestion by his mother, as it reminded her of their early years in Montville, USA. From about 1900 the town became a popular mountain resort. Montville was the setting for Eleanor Dark's 1959 novel Lantana Lane. Montville Post Office opened by February 1910 (a receiving office had been open from 1897) Montville was predominantly a logging then farming community (dairy, citrus, avocados, pineapples and macadamia nuts) until a tourism boom which commenced during the 1970s, taking advantage of the scenic views of the Sunshine Coast and the nearby rainforest walks. The MONTVILLE novelty number plate is the pressed embossed standard Aussie size  37cm x 13cm aluminium plate and extremely high quality, durable and long lasting and we are proud to say that it is manufactured in Queensland, Australia. Our CHAMBERLAIN CHAMPION 9G plate features Australia's 9G Chamberlain tractor which was the famous workhorse of the late 50’s and 60’s, and was designed and built in Western Australia. • HOLDEN FJ SPECIAL SEDAN

    $23.50$25.10

Our HOLDEN FJ SPECIAL SEDAN is of course about Australia's iconic Holden. The Holden FJ series is a range of motor vehicles which was produced in Australia by Holden from 1953 to 1957. The FJ was the second model of an "all Australian car" manufactured by Holden and was based upon the established 48-215 series, commonly referred to as the "FX". The sedan, in Standard, Business and Special trim levels, and a coupe utility were announced in October 1953 and were followed by a Panel van derivative in December of that year. A wagon prototype was built but the bodystyle was not put into production. In 1954, Holden's first exports began with sales of the FJ in New Zealand The FJ, of monocoque construction, broadly followed the silhouette of its predecessor, but featured a bolder horizontal styled front grille, along with comfort and decoration upgrades in a new sedan model named the 'Holden Special'. Originally specified as 60 bhp (45 kW) achieved at 3,800 rpm, the claimed maximum power output from the six-cylinder engine was increased to 65 bhp (48 kW) achieved at 4,000 rpm. In 1955 the car underwent a mild interior facelift for the Holden Special sedan, along with a variation in paint and trim options. The FJ series was progressively replaced by models from the Holden FE series from July 1956 to May 1957 with a total of 169,969 examples produced. In the 1950s almost half the cars on Australian roads were FJs, which gives you an idea of how popular it was. Smart styling and healthy demand for a locally-produced family car made a sales winner.  Today there are nearly 20 specific FX-FJ Holden Car Clubs of Australia with members committed to preserving these iconic Holdens. These clubs organise a national gathering for FX-FJ Holden enthusiasts every second year. $23.50$25.10

Our TWO HOLDEN HQ KINGSWOOD SEDANS is of course about Australia's iconic Holden. The Holden HQ was an automobile produced by General Motors-Holden's in Australia from 1971 to 1974. The HQ series of 1971 was a completely new design, introducing larger capacity 173-cubic-inch (2.84 L) and 202-cubic-inch (3.3 L) six-cylinder engines, with the continued availability of 253-cubic-inch (4.1 L), 308-cubic-inch (5.0 L) Holden and 350-cubic-inch (5.7 L) Chev V8 engines. HQ was the most radically engineered Holden since the introduction of the original 48-215 model of 23 years prior. It featured a perimeter frame and semi-monocoque (unibody) construction, and was the first full-size Holden to have coil spring rear suspension. As a cost-saving measure, the HQ was only engineered for right-hand drive, hence it was not feasible to sell the car in left-hand drive markets. Thus Holden exports declined from 41,181 in 1973 to just 7,440 in 1975. Despite this, the HQ became Holden's most popular car, selling 485,650 units. With almost half a million sold the HQ is still the most popular Holden ever produced and along the way spawned such classics as the Sandman panel van. This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. • HOLDEN HJ MONARO GTS SEDAN

    $23.50$25.10

The HOLDEN HJ MONARO GTS SEDAN novelty plate shows the car that was produced by Holden in Australia 1968 and 1977 and between 2001 and 2006. Three generations of the Monaro have been produced, with the last spawning an all wheel-drive variant, export models and various concept cars. The HJ followed the HQ, and a heavy facelift and some model rationalisation was applied to the HJ Monaro, which was released in October 1974. Its front end bears a resemblance to the 1970–1972 American Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The 350 V8 engine option and the base Monaro coupé were both discontinued. The Monaro GTS continued to be available as a coupé or sedan with 253 in3 (4,150 cc) V8 power, or the optional 308 in3 (5,050 cc) V8 engine. The GTS sedan was now a model of its own—in HQ the GTS sedan was an optioned Kingswood. The Monaro LS coupé also continued within the range, but still with the 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine as its base power unit. The body paint-outs were discontinued in the HJ Monaro GTS range, but for the first time, the Monaro could be dressed up with optional front and rear spoilers. It seemed that Holden were no longer interested in promoting the Monaro GTS coupé as a performance machine and this became all the more obvious with the HJ series coupé having retained the HQ model's rear body styling. The HJ Monaro LS coupé is close to being the rarest regular production car ever made in Australia with only 337 units produced. The HJ Monaro GTS coupé was discontinued during 1975 due to falling demand,606 examples having been produced This plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. The HOLDEN HZ KINGSWOOD PANEL VAN novelty plate shows the car that was produced by Holden in Australia from October 1977 - 1980 in a variety of equipment levels and in several different body styles. It was also assembled in New Zealand. Wikipedia tells us that the Holden HZ received minor updates to the exterior over the HX series, and saw the introduction of what Holden termed "Radial Tuned Suspension" (RTS) across all models. RTS made significant changes to the suspension of the car, greatly improving the handling finesse, while at the same time not compromising ride quality. Modern Motor magazine described the HZ as "a great handler spoiled by the car" in a comparison against the BMW 528i, contrasted as "a great car spoiled by the handling". In this series, the base specification Belmont was deleted and the new Kingswood SL became the base luxury level for sedans and wagons, with a lower specification Kingswood sedan and wagon only offered as a delete option on the Kingswood SL. During the course of the HZ series, equipment levels were upgraded in 1978 effectively to match improvements in the opposition Ford Falcon range, but the life of the full W size Holden looked set to end following Holden's release of the VB Commodore in November 1978. After 1980, W sized Holden passenger cars were cancelled—replaced by the downsized Commodore. The Kingswood luxury level lived on until 1985 on the WB Holden utility but the end of HZ saw the end of the Holden Premier alongside both the GTS and Sandman which were both deleted prior to the end of the HZ series. The Holden HZ was offered in four sedan and three station wagon models, marketed as follows: Holden Kingswood Sedan / Holden Kingswood Wagon / Holden Kingswood SL Sedan / Holden Kingswood SL Wagon / Holden Premier Sedan / Holden Premier Wagon / Holden GTS / It was also available in two coupe utility, two panel van and one cab chassis model, marketed as follows: Holden Ute / Holden Kingswood Ute / Holden Van / Holden Kingswood Van / Holden One Tonner (cab chassis) There were two special vehicle packages also available based upon commercial vehicles: Holden Sandman Ute and Holden Sandman Van This plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! For more details on creating a plate to your design please click here Important note about images we provide : Just as we sometimes see that “pricing is subject to change without notice”, so too are “designs subject to change without notice”.
