Our FORD XR FALCON GT novelty number plate features the Ford Falcon full-sized car produced by Ford Australia from 1966 to 1968. It was the first of the second generation of this Australian-made model and also included the Ford Fairmont (XR), the luxury-oriented version of the Falcon.
The XR series was introduced in September 1966. Styling was based on the third-generation 1966 US Ford Falcon, and it was promoted as the “Mustang-bred Falcon”. It was the first Australian Falcon to be offered with a V8 engine, the 200 bhp (150 kW), 289 cubic inch (4.7 l) Windsor unit. The XR marked the first time a V8 engine could be optioned in all trim levels of an Australian car, V8s having previously been reserved for the more upmarket variants. The 144 cubic inch (2.4 l) six-cylinder engine was deleted for the XR series, leaving the 170 cubic inch (2.8 l) six as the base Falcon engine. A 200 cubic inch (3.3 l) six was also available and a 200ci super pursuit motor.
The XR series was initially offered in 9 different models: Falcon, Falcon 500, and Fairmont sedans, Falcon, Falcon 500, and Fairmont wagons, Falcon and Falcon 500 utilities, and the Falcon Van. The new wagons shared the 111-inch (2,800 mm) wheelbase with the XR sedans, unlike the 1966 US Falcon wagons which featured a 115-inch (2,900 mm) wheelbase. The Falcon 500 replaced the Falcon Deluxe of the XP series and the two-door hardtop body style available in the XP series was not offered in the XR range.
The Falcon XR won the Wheels Car of the Year award in 1966, giving Ford Falcon two straight wins. The non-gold GTs, while having the same specifications, are the rarest of the early Australian muscle cars.

Ford XY GTHO Phase III
$25.10Our Ford XY GTHO Phase III is of course the iconic Ford and the Phase III GTHO was Australia's fastest four-door production car. The name of the car is often abbreviated to GTHO Phase III or even just Phase 3. Sometimes it is even referred to as a Hoey. It was also known as the Shaker because of the air intake scoop that protruded out of the bonnet and shook with the motion of the engine.And rattler because of the sound of the solid motor. The modified version the Falcon GT built in 1971 with a heavily upgraded engine, a 4 speed top-loader gearbox and Detroit locker 9" differential. It was also equipped with special brakes and handling package, plus a 164 litre fuel tank. Winner of the 1971 Bathurst 500, driven by Allan Moffat, the Phase III has been described as "...simply one of the best cars in the world, a true GT that could take on Ferraris and Astons on their own terms..." by Sports Car World. Top Speed: 227 km/h (141 mph) @ 6150rpm 0 - 60 mph - 6.5 seconds 0 – 100 km - 6.8 seconds Standing 1/4 mile (400m) - 14.4 seconds The Phase III GTHO is in incredibly high demand with collectors and investors. Good examples have been sold for prices in excess of A$700,000. Due to this demand, a small production run, and 'fewer than 100 remaining' there been a flow on effect into values of the lesser XW and other XY Falcons, particularly genuine GS and 'standard' GT models. Other models that have also benefited from the appreciation of the GTHO include the XA and XB GT hardtops, the earlier XW GTHO Phase 1 and 2 and the XC Cobra. A Falcon XY GTHO Phase III was sold at by Bonhams & Goodmans at auction for A$683,650 in March 2007. The car had only 40,000 km on the clock. The buyer of the car said it will be garaged, and that it won't be driven, but that he will be "keeping it as an investment". The sale price set a new auction record for Australian muscle cars. Whilst in June 2007 another Phase III sold for A$750,000. FORD XC Falcon GS
$23.50 – $25.10The FORD XC Falcon GS is part of the The Ford Falcon range that was produced by Ford in Australia from 1970 to 1972. The XC series was a facelift of the XB Falcon, itself an upgrade of the XA Falcon which had entered production in 1972. Introduced in July 1976, the XC was the first model to comply with the new pollution regulations specified under Australian Design Rule 27A. The response to the 1st of July 1976, mandatory anti-pollution laws, was to redevelop the Falcon six cylinder engines with a cross-flow head for greater efficiency. Visually, the XC Falcon was given a restyle treatment. The XC had an less aggressive nose which incorporated two round headlights on Falcon models and two rectangular headlights on Fairmont models. Ford also addressed the vision problems of the XA and XB by going to great expense and redesigning the rear door windows and installing an all-new dash and installing higher front seats. It was the last model Falcon to use coke bottle styling and was replaced with the XD Falcon in 1979.
