The CHECKERED RACING FLAG is traditionally used in motorsports whereby the starter or grand marshal of a race, waves the flag with a flourish from atop a flag podium near the start/finish line. Hence the expression ‘to take the CHECKERED FLAG’. Most commonly black and white but there are alternate colours. Dixie stocks only black/white
Please read about the various types of flag below and then make your selection from the drop down menu. Flags come in various types as described below and sizes are commonly referred to in feet rather than metres
Decorative Flags: These have 2 grommets on LHS sleeve and are printed on polyester which makes for a lightweight flag with a variety of uses such as flying on indoor poles or wall décor. They are great for supporting favourite sports team; decoration in parades, marches and occasional flying on an outdoor flagpole. We emphasise these flags are not designed for prolonged flying on flagpoles as sun and wind would affect the lightweight material very quickly. There are two common sizes in decorative flags which are 5x3ft (150x90cm) and the smaller 3x2ft (90x60cm)
Outdoor Flagpole Flags: These are a ‘trilobal’ material which is a knitted polyester for outdoor flag use which is long life, open weave, quick wicking and drying
Note this is knitted polyester and not a woven polyester, with the latter being weaker and lighter fabric unsuitable for outdoor use.
Our flags have double-stitched hems, and sewn loops so that you can attach Sista clips to secure them to the pole’s cords. The most common sizes in outdoor flags is 6x3ft (180x90cm)
Sista Clips for Outdoor Flagpole Flags: The correct name is Inglefield clip or Brummel hook but commonly known as sister or sista. It’s a plastic clip for joining a flag or ensign quickly, easily and securely to flag halyards so that the flag can be hoisted. Each clip resembles a link of chain, with a split through one side.
Hand Held Flags: These are printed on lightweight polyester with 2ft (60cm) plastic or wooden stick. They have a variety of uses such as parades, marches or supporting favourite sports team. They are 1.5x1ft (0.45×0.3m)
Desk / Table Flag Bases: These are available to hold either 1,2,3,5,11 or 17 flags

Ford XY GTHO Phase III
$25.10Our Ford XY GTHO Phase III is of course the iconic Ford and the Phase III GTHO was Australia's fastest four-door production car. The name of the car is often abbreviated to GTHO Phase III or even just Phase 3. Sometimes it is even referred to as a Hoey. It was also known as the Shaker because of the air intake scoop that protruded out of the bonnet and shook with the motion of the engine. And rattler because of the sound of the solid motor. The modified version the Falcon GT built in 1971 with a heavily upgraded engine, a 4 speed top-loader gearbox and Detroit locker 9" differential. It was also equipped with special brakes and handling package, plus a 164 litre fuel tank. Winner of the 1971 Bathurst 500, driven by Allan Moffat, the Phase III has been described as "...simply one of the best cars in the world, a true GT that could take on Ferraris and Astons on their own terms..." by Sports Car World. Top Speed: 227 km/h (141 mph) @ 6150rpm 0 - 60 mph - 6.5 seconds 0 – 100 km - 6.8 seconds Standing 1/4 mile (400m) - 14.4 seconds The Phase III GTHO is in incredibly high demand with collectors and investors. Good examples have been sold for prices in excess of A$700,000. Due to this demand, a small production run, and 'fewer than 100 remaining' there been a flow on effect into values of the lesser XW and other XY Falcons, particularly genuine GS and 'standard' GT models. Other models that have also benefited from the appreciation of the GTHO include the XA and XB GT hardtops, the earlier XW GTHO Phase 1 and 2 and the XC Cobra. A Falcon XY GTHO Phase III was sold at by Bonhams & Goodmans at auction for A$683,650 in March 2007. The car had only 40,000 km on the clock. The buyer of the car said it will be garaged, and that it won't be driven, but that he will be "keeping it as an investment". The sale price set a new auction record for Australian muscle cars. Whilst in June 2007 another Phase III sold for A$750,000. This plate has no embossed characters but has a pressed out embossed border and is made from high quality aluminium and the artwork applied by a dye sublimation process with a lovely gloss finish. They measure 37 x 13 cm, exactly the same as the traditional fully embossed type of plate and look just like our other Aussie made novelty number plates; even the mounting holes are in exactly the same positions, so they can easily be hung on display indoors or outdoors. For protection during delivery we use extra packing materials to ensure they arrive in tip-top condition If you would like plates made to your own design, we can easily do this for you. Virtually anything you want can be created with our modern digital equipment. The key is good art, and we can do ANY GRAPHIC! ANY DESIGN! ANY COLOUR! Important note about images we provide : Just as we sometimes see that “pricing is subject to change without notice”, so too are “designs subject to change without notice”. In 99.99% of cases, what you see on Dixie’s website or brochure is what you get. However, there are the odd times when designs have changed in some small way (eg: maybe a logo moves to a different location on the item, or the colour changes). Sometimes this information doesn’t always trickle down until the new designs are manufactured and shipped to Dixie. We hope this is helpful and understandable.
