The HOLDEN LJ TORANAS x THREE novelty plate features 3 great Torana models: A Gold ‘GTR - 2 door’; a Yellow ‘6 S - 4 door’ and a Green ‘GTR XU-1 - 2 door’ The Holden Torana - a mid-sized car manufactured by Holden from 1967 to 1980. The name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning "to fly". The first Torana (HB series) was released in 1967 and was a four-cylinder compact vehicle with origins in the British Vauxhall Vivas of the mid-1960s. Whilst the 1969-73 (LC and LJ series) cars included more popular, longer-wheelbase six-cylinder versions, and with the 1974-77 (LH and LX series) cars adding eight-cylinder versions to the mix, a range of four-cylinder versions continued for the entire production life of the Torana (with later versions being marketed as the Holden Sunbird from November 1976). Changing tack in Australian motor sport, Holden released the LC Torana GTR XU-1 in 1970, with performance-enhanced drive train and handling. From this time through to the release of the Holden Commodore, the Torana remained Holden's most successful sports performance vehicle, with many victories garnered in rallying and circuit racing. The introduction of the VB Commodore in 1978 was preceded by the arrival of the updated UC Torana/Sunbird twins, but with no sports versions or V8 engine options. The Torana was subsequently discontinued in 1979, followed by the four-cylinder Sunbird in 1980. First generation: HB Second generation : LC, LJ, TA Third generation: LH, LX, LX Sunbird, A9X option, UC Torana concept cars: Torana GTR-X; Torana Mystere; Torana TT36 This plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu. These novelty number  plates are made from high quality aluminium and the artwork applied by a dye sublimation process with a lovely gloss finish. They measure 37 x 13 cm, exactly the same as the traditional fully embossed type of plate and look just like our other Aussie made novelty number plates; even the mounting holes are in exactly the same positions, so they can easily be hung on display indoors or outdoors. One great advantage the flat non-embossed version is that owing to the absence of embossed border, and being just under 1 mm thick, it’s quite flexible and will flex about 10 cm from the centre, so can be mounted on curved surfaces. Each embossed rim style plate is sealed in a clear plastic sleeve, and each flat non-embossed plate is shrink-sealed in plastic film, so both types are ready for retail display, plus we offer the option of fixing them to a cardboard display card, so they can then be hung and displayed on the same display racks that are used for the other Aussie size plates we sell. To see what the display card looks like please click here For protection during delivery we use extra packing materials to ensure they arrive in tip-top condition If you would like plates made to your own design, we can easily do this for you. Virtually anything you want can be created with our modern digital equipment.  The key is good art, and we can do ANY GRAPHIC!    ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! Our HOLDEN HD UTE is of course the iconic Holden. The Holden HD was an automobile produced by General Motors-Holden's in Australia from 1965 to 1966. The Holden HD sedans and station wagons were released in February 1965 with coupe utility and panel van body styles following in July of that year. The HD range replaced the Holden EH series which had been in production since 1963. The HD had a completely new body, which was wider and longer than that of the EH and offered significant increases in passenger space, load space and equipment levels. Body styling exhibited strong similarities to Vauxhall's FC Victor of the previous year, including that car's unusual concave rear window. Disc brakes were offered for the first time on a Holden model and the optional Hydramatic three–speed automatic transmission as used in the EH was replaced by a Powerglide two– speed unit. The HD was also the first Holden to be offered with a factory performance engine option, the "X2". The HD is often confused with the later HR but can be recognised by the front indicators being mounted under the bumper (the HR had round indicators mounted in the grill) and the wrap around tail lights at the back (the HR had narrow lights that extended up the end of the rear fins but not around the edge) This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Our HOLDEN EJ WAGON is of course the iconic Holden. The Holden EJ was a motor vehicle which was produced by General Motors-Holden's in Australia from 1962 to 1963. Introduced in July 1962, the EJ replaced the Holden EK series. The styling of the EJ was a radical departure from that of the EK with a lower roofline, a flatter boot and an absence of fins. Improvements were made to the brakes, front suspension and the Hydra-matic automatic transmission. A new luxury model, the Holden Premier, made its debut in the EJ series and featured leather interior, bucket seats, metallic paint, a heater/demister with centre console and arm rests on all four doors. It was fitted with Hydra-matic 3-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, this being optional on other EJ series models. On introduction, the EJ range consisted of four-door sedans in three trim levels and five-door station wagons in two trim levels. A two-door coupe utility and a two-door panel van were added to the range in January 1963. The seven models were marketed as follows: Holden Standard Sedan / Holden Special Sedan / Holden Premier Sedan / Holden Standard Station Sedan / Holden Special Station Sedan / Holden Utility / Holden Panel Van There are just a handful of the pressed embossed Aussie size novelty number plate left, as this type of plate is phasing out. This is a standard size 37cm x 13cm aluminium plate and extremely high quality, durable and long lasting and we are proud to say that it is Australian manufactured by the same company that’s been producing and selling quality number plates for years. • NORTHERN TERRITORY

The NORTHERN TERRITORY (abbreviated as NT) is a federal Australian territory in the central and central northern regions of Australia. It shares borders with Western Australia to the west, South Australia to the south and Queensland to the east. To the north, the territory is bordered by the Timor Sea, the Arafura Sea and the Gulf of Carpentaria. Despite its large area (1.35 million sqkm) making it the third largest Australian federal division—it is sparsely populated having around 244k The archaeological history of the Northern Territory begins over 40,000 years ago when Indigenous Australians settled the region. Makassan traders began trading with the indigenous people of the Northern Territory for trepang from at least the 18th century onwards. The coast of the territory was first seen by Europeans in the 17th century. The British were the first Europeans to attempt to settle the coastal regions. After three failed attempts to establish a settlement (1824–1828, 1838–1849, and 1864–66), success was achieved in 1869 with the establishment of a settlement at Port Darwin. Today the economy is based on tourism, especially Kakadu National Park in the Top End and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park (Ayers Rock) in central Australia, and mining. The capital and largest city is Darwin. The population is concentrated in coastal regions and along the Stuart Highway. The other major settlements are (in order of size) Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy, and Tennant Creek. Residents of the Northern Territory are often known simply as "Territorians" and fully as "Northern Territorians", or more informally as "Top Enders" and "Centralians" This is our new style  flat and non-embossed plate and for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. • DARWIN

    $22.95$24.59

DARWIN is the capital city of the Northern Territory of Australia. Situated on the Timor Sea, Darwin is the largest city in the sparsely populated Northern Territory, with a population of circa 146k. It is the smallest and most northerly of the Australian capital cities, and acts as the Top End's regional centre. It's proximity to South East Asia makes it a link between Australia and countries such as Indonesia and East Timor. The 2,834 km long Stuart Highway begins in Darwin, ending at Port Augusta in South Australia. The city itself is built on a low bluff overlooking the harbour. Its suburbs spread out over some area, beginning at Lee Point in the north and stretching to Berrimah in the east. Past Berrimah, the Stuart Highway goes on to Darwin's satellite city, Palmerston, and its suburbs. The Darwin region, like the rest of the Top End, has a tropical climate, with a wet and a dry season. Prone to cyclone activity during the wet season, Darwin experiences heavy monsoonal downpours and spectacular lightning shows. During the dry season, the city is met with clear skies and mild sea breezes from the harbour. The original settlement became the town of Palmerston in 1869, and was renamed Darwin in 1911, and the city has been almost entirely rebuilt four times, following devastation caused by the 1897 cyclone, the 1937 cyclone, Japanese air raids during World War II, and Cyclone Tracy in 1974 This is our new style  flat and non-embossed plate and for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Holden VN Commodore SS is of course part of the range of cars manufactured by Holden in Australia The SS Group A SV was a race homologation special based on the VN Commodore SS, which was built at Elizabeth, South Australia but extensively modified at Clayton, Victoria by Holden Special Vehicles (HSV). It was powered by a 215 kW (288 hp) 4.9 L HEC 5000i V8 engine, which was mated to a six-speed ZF manual. The SS Group A SV existed primarily as a homologation special, created specifically so a racing optimised version of the Commodore could be utilised for Group A touring car motor racing. In fact, the regulations set down by the international governing body FISA at the time required a minimum of 500 road-going versions. HSV produced only 302 units in total. This shortened production run did not affect the SS Group A SV's homolgation thanks to the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) giving Holden special dispensation, in the hope of bolstering thinning grids in the 1991 Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC). In 99.99% of cases, what you see on Dixie’s website or brochure is what you get. However, there are the odd times when designs have changed in some small way (eg: maybe a logo moves to a different location on the item, or the colour changes). • Holden VN Commodore Group A

    $22.95$24.59

Holden VN Commodore Group A is of course part of the range of cars manufactured since 1978 by Holden in Australia (and, formerly, in New Zealand). For the original model, Holden replaced the long-serving Kingswood and Premier large cars developed in Australia, based on a smaller European design by Opel, re-engineered for Australian conditions. Initially introduced as a single sedan body style, the range expanded in 1979 to include a station wagon. From 1984, Holden began branding the flagship Commodore model as Holden Calais, with the Commodore Berlina introduced in 1984. Long-wheelbase Statesman/Caprice derivatives and Commodore utility body variants followed in 1990. The third generation architecture spawned the most body styles, with a new Holden utility launched in 2000 (now officially as the Holden Ute), reborn Monaro coupé in 2001, four-door Holden Crewman utility and all-wheel drive (AWD) Holden Adventra crossover in 2003. Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) in 1987 began official modification of high performance variants of the Commodore and its derivatives, under its own nameplate. Rivalry came predominantly from the Ford Falcon—also locally built. Wikipedia tells us: Group A regulations governed many touring car series between the 1980s and 1990s including in Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain, Japan, Italy, Germany and the European Touring Car Championship as well as the one-off 1987 World Touring Car Championship as well as significant races like the Bathurst 1000, Spa 24 Hours and the RAC Tourist Trophy. The arrival of the Commodore SS Group A SV, coincided with the return of former Holden racing driver, Peter Brock, for the first time since their acrimonious split in 1987. Brock teamed with former three time Bathurst co-winner and HDT driver, Larry Perkins and his team for the first time since 1985 to run two cars under Brock's Mobil sponsorship. The team formed a two-pronged attack by Holden, which also comprised Holden Racing Team led by British driver Win Percy. Engine outputs of this race car produced approximately 388 kW (528 PS; 520 hp), enabling it to reach 300 km/h (186 mph) with suitable gearing. It was also equipped with a specially homologated Holinger six-speed transmission, and their homologated racing weight was 1,250 kg (2,760 lb), down from the VL SV's 1,325 kg (2,921 lb). The SS Group A SV — as was the rest of the field that included Ford Sierra RS500 and the BMW M3 Evolution teams — was outclassed in the 1991 ATCC by the Gibson Motor Sport built Nissan Skyline R32 GT-R' of reigning champion Jim Richards and his teammate, Mark Skaife. Major complaints by Holden drivers included that the VN SS Group A SV lacked downforce compared to the VL series SV. Reportedly, this was a consequence of Holden demanding that the car be more eye pleasing to its predecessor, which was given various nicknames including the "plastic pig". While the car had a better aerodynamic drag and was significantly faster in a straight line than the VL (at Bathurst that year, Brock recorded 278 km/h (173 mph) in the Tooheys Top 10 runoff, and aided by a tow from the Sierra of Dick Johnson was recorded at 282 km/h (175 mph) in the race compared to around 270 km/h (168 mph) for the VL the year before), it was slower through the corners due to the lack of downforce. This meant that while lap times at most of the shorter ATCC tracks stayed almost the same as with the VL, the VN's were actually slower at Bathurst by around two seconds, though in fairness the VL series had 3 years development compared to less than 1 year for the VN. Brock gave the VN its only win in Group A racing when he won the opening heat of the first round of the 1992 Australian Touring Car Championship at Amaroo Park in Sydney, though both he and HRT were again uncompetitive during the season to the point that the leading Holden runner became Larry Perkins running a privately entered VL model. In September 1992 the VN was replaced as Holden's front line touring car for Sandown and Bathurst by its VP series successor. Brock's team was the only top team to run the VN Group A in the endurance races as the team's second car driven by Andrew Miedecke and Troy Dunston. The VN continued to be used by various privateers in 1993 and 1994 and last raced in the 1994 Australian Touring Car Championship by long time Holden running Sydney-based privateer, Terry Finnigan. It was based on the Japanese Isuzu Gemini, one of the many models based on the GM T-car platform. Voted 'Car of the Year" in 1975.  The original Holden Gemini model, the TX series, was introduced in February 1975. It was available as a four-door sedan in S and SL specification levels, and as a two-door SL coupe. • CANBERRA

    $22.95$24.59

CANBERRA is the capital city of Australia. With a population of 404k, it is Australia's largest inland city and the eighth-largest city overall. The city is located at the northern end of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT), 280 km south-west of Sydney, and 660 km north-east of Melbourne. A resident of Canberra is known as a "Canberran". Although Canberra is the capital and seat of government, many federal government ministries have secondary seats in state capital cities, as do the Governor-General and the Prime Minister. One look at Canberra's nature reserves and surrounding mountain ranges shows why "The Bush Capital" is a fitting description. Canberrans even voted for it to be the territory's new number plate slogan. The site of Canberra was selected for the location of the nation's capital in 1908 as a compromise between rivals Sydney and Melbourne, Australia's two largest cities. It is unusual among Australian cities, being an entirely planned city outside of any state, similar to Washington, D.C. in the United States, or Brasília in Brazil. Following an international contest for the city's design, a blueprint by American architects Walter Burley Griffin and Marion Mahony Griffin was selected and construction commenced in 1913. The Griffins' plan featured geometric motifs such as circles, hexagons and triangles, and was centred on axes aligned with significant topographical landmarks in the Australian Capital Territory. The ACT is independent of any state to prevent any one state from gaining an advantage by hosting the seat of Commonwealth power. The ACT has voting representation in the Commonwealth Parliament, and has its own Legislative Assembly and government, similar to the states. As the city has a high proportion of public servants, the Commonwealth Government contributes the largest percentage of Gross State Product and is the largest single employer in Canberra, although no longer the majority employer. Compared to the national averages, the unemployment rate is lower and the average income higher; tertiary education levels are higher, while the population is younger. Property prices are relatively high, in part due to comparatively restrictive development regulations. This is our new style  flat and non-embossed plate and for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu. The northernmost of the islands are situated off the coast by the town of Bowen while the southernmost islands are off the coast by Proserpine. The island group is centered on Whitsunday Island, while the group's commercial center is Hamilton Island. In 2009 as part of the Q150 celebrations, the Whitsunday Islands was announced as one of the Q150 Icons of Queensland for its role as a "Natural attraction". Captain Cook named the Whitsunday Passage in his HMS Endeavour journal believing the passage was discovered on Whitsunday, the Sunday of the feast of Whitsun—Pentecost in the Christian liturgical year—which is observed 7 weeks after Easter. Whitehaven Beach is a 7 km stretch along Whitsunday Island accessible by boat, seaplane & helicopter. Tourists and locals flock to Whitehaven Beach to swim, take in the bright white sand and enjoy a beach BBQ. The Whitehaven Beach Ocean Swim is a 2 km open swimming competition held on the beach in November each year since 2009 as part of the Hamilton Island Triathlon. BROOME is a coastal, pearling and tourist town in the Kimberley region of Western Australia, 2240 km north of Perth. It's population was about 14,000 at the 2016 Census but grows to over 45,000/month during the tourist season. It is often mistakenly thought that the first European to visit Broome was William Dampier in 1688, but he only visited the north of what was later named the Dampier Peninsula. In 1699 he explored the coast from Shark Bay to La Grange Bay, from where he headed north leaving the Australian coast. Many of the coastal features of the area were later named for him. In 1879, Charles Harper suggested that the pearling industry could be served by a port closer to the pearling grounds and that Roebuck Bay would be suitable. In 1883, John Forrest chose the site for the town, and it was named after Sir Frederick Broome, the Governor of Western Australia from 1883 to 1889. In 1889, a telegraph undersea cable was laid from Broome to Banjuwangi, East Java, connecting to England. Hence the name Cable Beach given to the landfall site. The town has a deep history based around the exploits of the men and women who developed the pearling industry, starting with the harvesting of oysters for mother of pearl in the 1880s to the large present-day cultured pearl farming enterprises. At first, aborigines were blackbirded (enslaved) and forced to dive for pearls but when slavery was abolished and diving suits were needed for deeper diving, Asians and islanders were given the dangerous job instead. The Japanese were especially valued for their experience. The riches from the pearl beds did not come cheaply, however, and the town's Japanese cemetery is the resting place of 919 Japanese divers who lost their lives working in the industry. Many more were lost at sea, and the exact number of deaths is unknown. The Japanese were only one of the major ethnic groups who flocked to Broome to work on the luggers or the shore-based activities supporting the harvesting of oysters from the waters around Broome. They were specialist divers and, despite being considered enemies, became an indispensable part of the industry until World War II. Each year Broome celebrates this fusion of different cultures in an annual cultural festival called Shinju Matsuri (Japanese for "festival of the pearl") which celebrates the Asian-influenced culture brought there by the pearling industry.
