The flag of IRAQ 2004–2008 -(August 5, 2004 – January 22, 2008) with stylized Kufic script (ratio: 2:3). Owing to these differing views, and the prevailing opposition to an outright abandonment of the current Iraqi flag, a compromise measure was adopted by the U.S.-appointed Iraqi interim administration in 2004. The basic form of the existing flag was retained; however, the takbīr was rendered in traditional stylized Kufic script, as opposed to the handwriting of Saddam Hussein.  The modified flag was unveiled at the ceremony marking the technical "handover" of power from the Coalition Provisional Authority occupation forces to the U.S.-appointed administration on 28 June 2004. This basic tricolor has been in use since its adoption on 31 July 1963, with several changes to the green symbols in the central white stripes; the most recent version adopted on 22 January 2008 bears the takbīr rendered in dark green - for this flag click HERE We have only 2 off of these older IRAQI flags in the 5x3ft (150x90cm) size Decorative Flags: These have 2 grommets on LHS sleeve and are printed on polyester which makes for a lightweight flag with a variety of uses such as flying on indoor poles or wall décor. They are great for supporting favourite sports team; decoration in parades, marches and occasional flying on an outdoor flagpole. We emphasise these flags are not designed for prolonged flying on flagpoles as sun and wind would affect the lightweight material very quickly. There are two common sizes in decorative flags which are 5x3ft (150x90cm) and the smaller 3x2ft (90x60cm)

The flag of Kuwait was adopted in 1961. Before 1961, the flag of Kuwait was red and white, like those of other Persian Gulf states at the time, with the field being red and words or charges being written in white. Until 1899, the flag consisted solely of a red field. From 1899 to 1915, the red field bore a white crescent and star and, also in white, the word "كويت" (Kuwait). From 1899 to 1909, the crescent-and-star symbol and the country's name were of equal height; between 1909 and 1915, the crescent and star predominated at the center, with the country's name reduced in size and relegated to the top fly-side corner. Between 1915 and 1956, the crescent and star were removed and the name was enlarged and returned to the center of the flag. Between 1956 and 1961, the crescent and star remained absent, the name was written in a different style placing greater emphasis on the word-initial K, the hoist side of the flag bore a wavy white bordure, and the Shahadah was written vertically and oriented so as to be read top-to-bottom. The present flag is in the Pan-Arab colours, but each colour is also significant in its own right. Black represents the defeat of the enemy, while red is the colour of blood on the Kuwaiti swords. White symbolizes purity, and green is for the fertile land. The BUDDHIST flag is a flag designed in the late 19th century to symbolize and universally represent Buddhism, and is used by Buddhists throughout the world. The flag was originally designed in 1885 by the Colombo Committee, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. It was first hoisted in public on Vesak day, 28 May 1885 at the Dipaduttamarama, Kotahena, by Ven. Migettuwatte Gunananda Thera. This was the first Vesak public holiday under British rule. Colonel Henry Steel Olcott, an American journalist, founder and first president of the Theosophical Society, felt that its long streaming shape made it inconvenient for general use. He therefore suggested modifying it so that it was the size and shape of national flags. In 1889 the modified flag was introduced to Japan by Anagarika Dharmapala and Olcott—who presented it to Emperor Meiji—and subsequently to Burma. At the 1952 World Fellowship of Buddhists, the flag of Buddhists was adopted as the International Buddhist Flag. The BANGLADESH FLAG was adopted officially on 17 January 1972. It consists of a red disc on top of a green field, offset slightly toward the hoist so that it appears centred when the flag is flying. The red disc represents the sun rising over Bengal, and also the blood of those who died for the independence of Bangladesh. The green field stands for the lushness of the land of Bangladesh. The flag is based on a similar flag used during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971, which had a yellow map of the country inside the red disc. In 1972 this map was deleted from the flag. One reason given was the difficulty for rendering the map correctly on both sides of the flag. The CONFEDERATE FLAG is well known internationally. However, it has a checkered/controversial history and was rejected as the US national flag in 1861 but it was instead adopted as a battle flag by the Army of Northern Virginia under General Lee. Despite never having historically represented the USA as a country nor officially recognized as one of the national flags, the CONFEDERATE  flag is commonly referred to as "the Confederate Flag" and has become a widely recognized symbol of the South. The CONFEDERATE FLAG is also known as the REBEL, DIXIE, or SOUTHERN CROSS and is often incorrectly referred to as the "Stars and Bars". The actual "Stars and Bars" is the first national flag, which used an entirely different design). Some groups such as the Ku Klux Klan have flown it and some rockabilly fans hold the battle flag as their emblem. The NEW SOUTH WALES FLAG was was officially adopted by the government of New South Wales in 1876. The flag is based on the defaced British Blue Ensign with the state badge located in the fly. The badge, based on the coat of arms, is a white disc with the cross of St George, a golden lion passant guardant in the centre of the cross and an eight-pointed gold star on each arm of the cross. This NSW flag was adopted due to criticisms from the British Admiralty that the previous design was too similar to the design of the Victorian flag. The AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY FLAG was was officially adopted by the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly in 1993. The flag differs from the Australian state flags as it is not a defaced British Blue Ensign. It is similar in design to the flag of the Northern Territory. The flag uses the Canberra city colours of blue and gold (which also happen to be the heraldic colours of Australia). The Southern Cross appears as five white stars on a blue panel at the hoist, whilst in the centre of the gold field in the fly is the modified arms of the City of Canberra. The flag was designed by Ivo Ostyn. In 1988 and 1992 competitions for a proposed new flag were held, in which artists and residents of the ACT could put forth their designs for the new flag. Subsequently the current flag won the competition. The ACT Legislative Assembly then officially adopted this flag in 1993. The flag of the PITCAIRN ISLANDS is a Blue Ensign with the Union Flag in the canton and the coat of arms of the Pitcairn Islands in the fly. It was adopted on April 2, 1984. The design was suggested by the Pitcairn Island Council in December 1980 and approved by Queen Elizabeth II in April 1984. The flag was flown on Pitcairn for the first time in May 1984, during a visit by the then Governor, Sir Richard Stratton (1980-1984). The coat of arms of the Pitcairn Islands features a shield depicting the anchor and Bible from HMS Bounty. This represents the ancestral history of the islanders, most of whom are descended from the sailors who mutinied on the Bounty in 1789. The state and war flag of SAN MARINO is formed by two equal horizontal bands of white (top) and light blue with the national coat of arms superimposed in the center; the coat of arms has a shield (featuring three towers on three peaks) with a closed crown on top, flanked by an oak and laurel wreath, with a scroll below bearing the word LIBERTAS (Liberty). The two colors of the flag represent peace (white) and liberty (azure). Although the Law on the flag and coat of arms of San Marino from 2011 refers only to the "official flag" of the republic, a de facto civil flag, which omits the coat of arms, can sometimes be seen flying. Some official sources of San Marino suggest that the civil flag is actually the bicolor with the coat of arms of the specific city it is used in, instead of the national one. The national ensign of San Marino is identical to the state flag Flags come in various types as described below and sizes are commonly referred to in feet rather than metres, so please read about the various types of flag below and then make your selection from the drop down menu Decorative Flags: These have 2 grommets on LHS sleeve and are printed on polyester which makes for a lightweight flag with a variety of uses such as flying on indoor poles or wall décor. They are great for supporting favourite sports team; decoration in parades, marches and occasional flying on an outdoor flagpole. We emphasise these flags are not designed for prolonged flying on flagpoles as sun and wind would affect the lightweight material very quickly. There are two common sizes in decorative flags which are 5x3ft (150x90cm) and the smaller 3x2ft (90x60cm) Outdoor Flagpole Flags: These are a ‘trilobal’ material which is a knitted polyester for outdoor flag use which is long life, open weave, quick wicking and drying Note this is knitted polyester and not a woven polyester, with the latter being weaker and lighter fabric unsuitable for outdoor use. Our flags have double-stitched hems, and sewn loops so that you can attach Sista clips to secure them to the pole’s cords. JOLLY ROGER is the name given to any of various flags flown to identify a ship's crew as pirates. Since the decline of piracy, various military units have used the Jolly Roger, usually in SKULL AND CROSSBONES design, as a unit identification insignia or a victory flag to ascribe to themselves the proverbial ferocity and toughness of pirates. The flag most commonly identified as the JOLLY ROGER today, the SKULL AND CROSSBONES symbol on a black flag, was used during the 1710s by a number of pirate captains including Black Sam Bellamy, Edward England, and John Taylor, and it went on to become the most commonly used pirate flag during the 1720s. Not to be confused with "Skull and Bones" which is an undergraduate senior secret society at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. It is the oldest senior class landed society. The society's alumni organization, the Russell Trust Association, owns the society's real estate and oversees the organization. The society is known informally as "Bones", and members are known as "Bonesmen". In 99.99% of cases, what you see on Dixie’s website or brochure is what you get. However, there are the odd times when designs have changed in some small way and sometimes this information doesn’t always trickle down until the new designs are manufactured and shipped to Dixie. We hope this is helpful and understandable.
