The HOLDEN HG UTE is of course the iconic Holden. The HOLDEN HG was an automobile produced by Holden’s in Australia between 1970 and 1971. It was marketed under Belmont, Kingswood, Premier, Brougham and Monaro model names. The Holden HG range was introduced on 26 July 1970, replacing the Holden HT series which had been in production since May 1969. Changes from the previous model included new grilles and body decorations as well as new safety features, colours and trim designs. All V8-engined models were now fitted with improved disc brakes and the suspension system of the Monaro GTS was modified for greater comfort. The mainstream HG series was offered in four-door sedan and five-door station wagon body styles in three trim levels. The HG was marketed as these models: Belmont sedan / Belmont station wagon / Kingswood sedan / Kingswood station wagon / Premier sedan / Premier station wagon / The Brougham, which used a body with an extended boot, was available in one model only.

The Monaro was offered in three two-door coupe models: Monaro coupe / Monaro GTS coupe / Monaro GTS 350 coupe
Commercial vehicle derivatives were available in two-door coupe utility and two-door panel van body styles. Belmont utility / Belmont panel van / Kingswood utility

There are just a handful of the pressed embossed Aussie size novelty number plate left, as this type of plate is phasing out. This is a standard size 37cm x 13cm aluminium plate and extremely high quality, durable and long lasting and we are proud to say that it is Australian manufactured by the same company that’s been producing and selling quality number plates for years. The sign can be hung inside or outside and each is pre-drilled so ready to hang.

This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu.

These novelty number  plates are made from high quality aluminium and the artwork applied by a dye sublimation process with a lovely gloss finish. They measure 37 x 13 cm, exactly the same as the traditional fully embossed type of plate and look just like our other Aussie made novelty number plates; even the mounting holes are in exactly the same positions, so they can easily be hung on display indoors or outdoors. One great advantage the flat non-embossed version is that owing to the absence of embossed border, and being just under 1 mm thick, it’s quite flexible and will flex about 10 cm from the centre, so can be mounted on curved surfaces.

Each embossed rim style plate is sealed in a clear plastic sleeve, and each flat non-embossed plate is shrink-sealed in plastic film, so both types are ready for retail display, plus we offer the option of fixing them to a cardboard display card, so they can then be hung and displayed on the same display racks that are used for the other Aussie size plates we sell. Important note about images we provide for novelty signs and plates: Just as we sometimes see that “pricing is subject to change without notice”, so too are “designs subject to change without notice”. In 99.99% of cases, what you see on Dixie’s website or brochure is what you get. However, there are the odd times when designs have changed in some small way (eg: maybe a logo moves to a different location on the item, or the colour changes). Sometimes this information doesn’t always trickle down until the new designs are manufactured and shipped to Dixie. We hope this is helpful and understandable.

  • HOLDEN FX SEDAN

Our HOLDEN FX SEDAN is of course the iconic Holden. The HOLDEN FX was an automobile produced by General Motors-Holden's in Australia as the Holden 48-215 between November 1948 and October 1953. The 48-215 was the first model from General Motors in Australia to bear the Holden name. In mainstream parlance, the official name of "Holden 48-215" was eschewed in favour of the shortened "Holden" designation. Following the replacement of the first Holden, the 48-215 gained the unofficial nickname of Holden FX. This designation was first used in the Drawing Office at GM-H in 1952 as an unofficial means of distinguishing between early 48-215 vehicles with front suspension using lever-action shock absorbers, and those with the new telescopic shock absorber front suspension introduced in 1953 - the term "FX" was pencilled onto a parts list for the new suspension components. The title "FX" later came into use in used car advertisements to describe models with the later suspension, first being used by Melbourne dealer Reg Smith Motors in two advertisements in the 10 February 1960 issue of The Age. Use of the term "FX" gradually spread to cover all 48-215 and 50-2016 vehicles, although the term has never been used by Holden in any official manner. The design was originally penned in the United States by Chevrolet, but was not used because it was deemed too small for the U.S. market as it developed after the war. Instead the design became the basis of only the 48-215 model. Its American origins are quite apparent, as it closely resembles Chevrolets of the period that did make it to production, particularly the Fleetline Aerosedan and the second generation Deluxe. Development of the 48-215 began in 1944. There are just a handful of the pressed embossed Aussie size novelty number plate left, as this type of plate is phasing out. • HOLDEN EJ SEDAN

The HOLDEN EJ SEDAN novelty number plate refers to the Holden EJ - a motor vehicle which was produced by General Motors-Holdens in Australia from 1962 to 1963. Introduced in July 1962,the EJ replaced the Holden EK series. The styling of the EJ was a radical departure from that of the EK with a lower roof line, a flatter boot and an absence of fins. Improvements were made to the brakes, front suspension and the Hydra-matic automatic transmission. A new luxury model, the Holden Premier, made its debut in the EJ series and featured leather interior, bucket seats, metallic paint, a heater/demister with centre console and arm rests on all four doors. It was fitted with Hydra-matic 3-speed automatic transmission as standard equipment, this being optional on other EJ series models. This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice.
