AUS EMBOSSED NOVELTY NUMBER PLATES

We sell the traditional embossed character style of Aussie size Novelty Number plates; but in 2015 introduced a new range of non-embossed Aussie size plates. Each product description notes whether the plate is traditional embossed or non-embossed. We have themed sub categories for our plates to make the selection process simpler

Our manufacturer of embossed plates is a company based on the Great Dividing Range, where a dedicated team produce 100’s of novelty plates each week.

We manufacturer our own non-embossed plates in the USA, and these are unique and exclusive to Dixie, using designs which we created ourselves. We have what others don’t and we like it that way! All of this range of products is printed on high quality aluminium with a high gloss finish. The dye sublimation process used allows unlimited colours, so if required we can reproduce full colour photographs.

  • MONTVILLE

MONTVILLE is a small town in the Sunshine Coast hinterland, on the Blackall Range in Queensland, Australia, around 400 metres above sea level. At the 2011 census, Montville and the surrounding area had a population of 886. The first white settlers arrived in the area in 1887 and the town was later named by Henry Smith (who bought a selection of land there in 1893) after a suggestion by his mother, as it reminded her of their early years in Montville, USA. From about 1900 the town became a popular mountain resort. Montville was the setting for Eleanor Dark's 1959 novel Lantana Lane. Montville Post Office opened by February 1910 (a receiving office had been open from 1897) Montville was predominantly a logging then farming community (dairy, citrus, avocados, pineapples and macadamia nuts) until a tourism boom which commenced during the 1970s, taking advantage of the scenic views of the Sunshine Coast and the nearby rainforest walks. The MONTVILLE novelty number plate is the pressed embossed standard Aussie size  37cm x 13cm aluminium plate and extremely high quality, durable and long lasting and we are proud to say that it is manufactured in Queensland, Australia. These novelty plates can be hung anywhere inside or outside as each is pre-drilled so ready to hang. PLEASE NOTE they are for decoration only as officially the authorities say “Attachment of a novelty number plate to a vehicle could attract the interest of law enforcement officers should it affect the visibility of, or distract from, or imply it is, the actual registration plate of the vehicle.” For protection during delivery we use extra packing materials to ensure they arrive in tip-top condition If you would like novelty plates made with your own choice of characters, we can easily do this for you within a few days. Just head on over to the link below for all the details of how to order a 'non-Graphic' two colour plate - CLICK HERE FOR CUSTOM MADE NON GRAPHIC PLATE DETAILS If you want a plate with a picture background then we can also do these types of plates for you - virtually anything you want can be created with our modern digital equipment.  The key is good art, and we can do ANY GRAPHIC!    ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! In 99.99% of cases, what you see on Dixie’s website or brochure is what you get. However, there are the odd times when designs have changed in some small way (eg: maybe a logo moves to a different location on the item, or the colour changes). Sometimes this information doesn’t always trickle down until the new designs are manufactured and shipped to Dixie. We hope this is helpful and understandable.

  • CHAMBERLAIN CHAMPION 9G

Our CHAMBERLAIN CHAMPION 9G plate features Australia's 9G Chamberlain tractor which was the famous workhorse of the late 50’s and 60’s, and was designed and built in Western Australia. These machines, which are capable of a relatively high speed, can be made comfortable to drive, and of course have a proven reliability over a long period of time. They can traverse rock, mud, sand and relatively deep water, and so they have earned a reputation of being a “go anywhere machine”. This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu. These novelty number  plates are made from high quality aluminium and the artwork applied by a dye sublimation process with a lovely gloss finish. They measure 37 x 13 cm, exactly the same as the traditional fully embossed type of plate and look just like our other Aussie made novelty number plates; even the mounting holes are in exactly the same positions, so they can easily be hung on display indoors or outdoors. One great advantage the flat non-embossed version is that owing to the absence of embossed border, and being just under 1 mm thick, it’s quite flexible and will flex about 10 cm from the centre, so can be mounted on curved surfaces. Each embossed rim style plate is sealed in a clear plastic sleeve, and each flat non-embossed plate is shrink-sealed in plastic film, so both types are ready for retail display, plus we offer the option of fixing them to a cardboard display card, so they can then be hung and displayed on the same display racks that are used for the other Aussie size plates we sell. • HOLDEN HG PREMIER SEDAN

Our HOLDEN HG PREMIER SEDAN is of course about Australia's iconic Holden. The Holden HG range was introduced on 26 July 1970, replacing the Holden HT series which had been in production since May 1969. Changes from the previous model included new grilles and body decorations as well as new safety features, colours and trim designs. All V8-engined models were now fitted with improved disc brakes and the suspension system of the Monaro GTS was modified for greater comfort. The mainstream HG series was offered in four-door sedan and five-door station wagon body styles in three trim levels. Belmont sedan / Belmont station wagon / Kingswood sedan / Kingswood station wagon / Premier sedan / Premier station wagon This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. • HOLDEN FJ SPECIAL SEDAN

Our HOLDEN FJ SPECIAL SEDAN is of course about Australia's iconic Holden. The Holden FJ series is a range of motor vehicles which was produced in Australia by Holden from 1953 to 1957. The FJ was the second model of an "all Australian car" manufactured by Holden and was based upon the established 48-215 series, commonly referred to as the "FX". The sedan, in Standard, Business and Special trim levels, and a coupe utility were announced in October 1953 and were followed by a Panel van derivative in December of that year. A wagon prototype was built but the bodystyle was not put into production. In 1954, Holden's first exports began with sales of the FJ in New Zealand The FJ, of monocoque construction, broadly followed the silhouette of its predecessor, but featured a bolder horizontal styled front grille, along with comfort and decoration upgrades in a new sedan model named the 'Holden Special'. Originally specified as 60 bhp (45 kW) achieved at 3,800 rpm, the claimed maximum power output from the six-cylinder engine was increased to 65 bhp (48 kW) achieved at 4,000 rpm. In 1955 the car underwent a mild interior facelift for the Holden Special sedan, along with a variation in paint and trim options. The FJ series was progressively replaced by models from the Holden FE series from July 1956 to May 1957 with a total of 169,969 examples produced. In the 1950s almost half the cars on Australian roads were FJs, which gives you an idea of how popular it was. Smart styling and healthy demand for a locally-produced family car made a sales winner.  Today there are nearly 20 specific FX-FJ Holden Car Clubs of Australia with members committed to preserving these iconic Holdens. These clubs organise a national gathering for FX-FJ Holden enthusiasts every second year. This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. • TWO HOLDEN HQ KINGSWOOD SEDANS

Our TWO HOLDEN HQ KINGSWOOD SEDANS is of course about Australia's iconic Holden. The Holden HQ was an automobile produced by General Motors-Holden's in Australia from 1971 to 1974. The HQ series of 1971 was a completely new design, introducing larger capacity 173-cubic-inch (2.84 L) and 202-cubic-inch (3.3 L) six-cylinder engines, with the continued availability of 253-cubic-inch (4.1 L), 308-cubic-inch (5.0 L) Holden and 350-cubic-inch (5.7 L) Chev V8 engines. HQ was the most radically engineered Holden since the introduction of the original 48-215 model of 23 years prior. It featured a perimeter frame and semi-monocoque (unibody) construction, and was the first full-size Holden to have coil spring rear suspension. As a cost-saving measure, the HQ was only engineered for right-hand drive, hence it was not feasible to sell the car in left-hand drive markets. Thus Holden exports declined from 41,181 in 1973 to just 7,440 in 1975. Despite this, the HQ became Holden's most popular car, selling 485,650 units. With almost half a million sold the HQ is still the most popular Holden ever produced and along the way spawned such classics as the Sandman panel van. This popular plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu. • HOLDEN HJ MONARO GTS SEDAN

The HOLDEN HJ MONARO GTS SEDAN novelty plate shows the car that was produced by Holden in Australia 1968 and 1977 and between 2001 and 2006. Three generations of the Monaro have been produced, with the last spawning an all wheel-drive variant, export models and various concept cars. The HJ followed the HQ, and a heavy facelift and some model rationalisation was applied to the HJ Monaro, which was released in October 1974. Its front end bears a resemblance to the 1970–1972 American Chevrolet Monte Carlo. The 350 V8 engine option and the base Monaro coupé were both discontinued. The Monaro GTS continued to be available as a coupé or sedan with 253 in3 (4,150 cc) V8 power, or the optional 308 in3 (5,050 cc) V8 engine. The GTS sedan was now a model of its own—in HQ the GTS sedan was an optioned Kingswood. The Monaro LS coupé also continued within the range, but still with the 3.3-litre six-cylinder engine as its base power unit. The body paint-outs were discontinued in the HJ Monaro GTS range, but for the first time, the Monaro could be dressed up with optional front and rear spoilers. It seemed that Holden were no longer interested in promoting the Monaro GTS coupé as a performance machine and this became all the more obvious with the HJ series coupé having retained the HQ model's rear body styling. The HJ Monaro LS coupé is close to being the rarest regular production car ever made in Australia with only 337 units produced. The HJ Monaro GTS coupé was discontinued during 1975 due to falling demand,606 examples having been produced This plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. Please select your preference from the drop down menu. These novelty number  plates are made from high quality aluminium and the artwork applied by a dye sublimation process with a lovely gloss finish. • HOLDEN HZ KINGSWOOD PANEL VAN

The HOLDEN HZ KINGSWOOD PANEL VAN novelty plate shows the car that was produced by Holden in Australia from October 1977 - 1980 in a variety of equipment levels and in several different body styles. It was also assembled in New Zealand. Wikipedia tells us that the Holden HZ received minor updates to the exterior over the HX series, and saw the introduction of what Holden termed "Radial Tuned Suspension" (RTS) across all models. RTS made significant changes to the suspension of the car, greatly improving the handling finesse, while at the same time not compromising ride quality. Modern Motor magazine described the HZ as "a great handler spoiled by the car" in a comparison against the BMW 528i, contrasted as "a great car spoiled by the handling". In this series, the base specification Belmont was deleted and the new Kingswood SL became the base luxury level for sedans and wagons, with a lower specification Kingswood sedan and wagon only offered as a delete option on the Kingswood SL. During the course of the HZ series, equipment levels were upgraded in 1978 effectively to match improvements in the opposition Ford Falcon range, but the life of the full W size Holden looked set to end following Holden's release of the VB Commodore in November 1978. After 1980, W sized Holden passenger cars were cancelled—replaced by the downsized Commodore. The Kingswood luxury level lived on until 1985 on the WB Holden utility but the end of HZ saw the end of the Holden Premier alongside both the GTS and Sandman which were both deleted prior to the end of the HZ series. The Holden HZ was offered in four sedan and three station wagon models, marketed as follows: Holden Kingswood Sedan / Holden Kingswood Wagon / Holden Kingswood SL Sedan / Holden Kingswood SL Wagon / Holden Premier Sedan / Holden Premier Wagon / Holden GTS / It was also available in two coupe utility, two panel van and one cab chassis model, marketed as follows: Holden Ute / Holden Kingswood Ute / Holden Van / Holden Kingswood Van / Holden One Tonner (cab chassis) There were two special vehicle packages also available based upon commercial vehicles: Holden Sandman Ute and Holden Sandman Van This plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. To see what the display card looks like please click here For protection during delivery we use extra packing materials to ensure they arrive in tip-top condition If you would like plates made to your own design, we can easily do this for you. Virtually anything you want can be created with our modern digital equipment.  The key is good art, and we can do ANY GRAPHIC!    ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! • BEER AUSSIE MAN’S DRINK

The BEER AUSSIE MAN'S DRINK novelty plate. Australian men take their beer seriously and there is certainly a bit of confusion when ordering beers in different Aussie states. The most popular beer sizes in Australia include… A jug, which is 1140ml or 40 fluid ounces and is designed for sharing with your mates A pint is a 570ml (20 oz) glass but in South Australia, it is called an Imperial Pint because they call the 450ml glass a Pint A schooner is a 450ml (15 oz) glass, except in South Australia where it is called a Pint. Schooners are usually served in New South Wales but also exist in Victorian or Western Australian pubs too. • CAMARO SS

The CAMARO SS novelty plate shows the first generation Chevrolet Camaro that appeared in Chevrolet dealerships in September 1966, for the 1967 model year on a brand-new rear-wheel drive GM F-body platform and was available as a 2-door, 2+2 seat, hardtop (no "B" or center pillar) or convertible with a choice of six-cylinder and V8 power plants. The first-generation Camaro was built through the 1969 model year. The Camaro's standard drive train was either a 230 cu in (3.8 L) straight-6 engine rated at 140 hp (104 kW) or a 327 cu in (5.4 L) (307 cu in (5.0 L) later in 1969) V8 engine, with a standard three-speed manual transmission. There were 8 (in 1967), 10 (in 1968), and 12 (in 1969) different engines available in 1967-1969 Camaros. There were several optional transmissions. A four-speed manual was available with any engine. The two-speed "Powerglide" automatic transmission was available all three years. The three-speed "Turbo Hydra-Matic 350" automatic became available starting in 1969. The optional automatic for SS396 cars was the Turbo 400 three-speed automatic. There was a plethora of other options available all three years, including three main packages: The RS was an appearance package that included hidden headlights, revised taillights with back-up lights under the rear bumper, RS badging, and exterior bright trim. It was available on any model. The SS performance package consisted of a 350 or 396 cu in V8 engine and chassis upgrades for better handling and to deal with the additional power. The SS featured non-functional air inlets on the hood, special striping, and SS badging. The Z/28 performance package was designed (with further modifications) to compete in the SCCA Trans-Am series. It included a solid-lifter 302 V8, 4-speed transmission, power disc brakes, and two wide stripes down the hood and trunk lid. • MINI THREE MODELS

The MINI THREE MODELS novelty plate shows three models of the car that was part of the Mini range produced by the English based British Motor Corporation (BMC) and its successors from 1959 until 2000. The original is considered an icon of 1960s British popular culture. It's space-saving transverse engine front-wheel drive layout – allowing 80 percent of the area of the car's floorpan to be used for passengers and luggage – influenced a generation of car makers. In 1999 the Mini was voted the second most influential car of the 20th century, behind the Ford Model T, and ahead of the Citroën DS and Volkswagen Beetle. This distinctive two-door car was designed for BMC by Sir Alec Issigonis. It was manufactured at the Longbridge and Cowley plants in England, the Victoria Park/Zetland British Motor Corporation (Australia) factory in Sydney, Australia, and later also in Spain (Authi), Belgium, Chile, Italy (Innocenti), Malta, Portugal, South Africa, Uruguay, Venezuela and Yugoslavia. The Mini Mark I had three major UK updates – the Mark II, the Clubman and the Mark III. Within these was a series of variations, including an estate car, a pick-up truck, a van and the Mini Moke – a jeep-like buggy. The performance versions, the Mini Cooper and Cooper "S," were successful as both race and rally cars, winning the Monte Carlo Rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967. In 1966, the first-placed Mini was disqualified after the finish, under a controversial decision that the car's headlights were against the rules. BMW acquired the Rover Group (formerly British Leyland) in 1994, and sold the greater part of it in 2000, but retained the rights to build cars using the MINI name This plate comes standard as completely flat and non-embossed but for a little more cost we are able to give it a pressed out embossed border, so you have a choice. ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! For more details on creating a plate to your design please click here Important note about images we provide : Just as we sometimes see that “pricing is subject to change without notice”, so too are “designs subject to change without notice”.

  • QUEENSLAND

The QUEENSLAND novelty plate is all about the Sunshine State of Queensland (abbreviated as QLD). It's the second largest and third most populous state in the Commonwealth of Australia. Situated in the north east of the country, it is bordered by the Northern Territory, South Australia and New South Wales. To the east, Queensland is bordered by the Coral Sea and Pacific Ocean. Queensland's population is approx 4.7 mill, concentrated along the coast and particularly in the state's South East. The state is the world's sixth largest sub-national entity, with an area of 1,852,642 km2. The capital and largest city in the state is Brisbane, Australia's third largest city. Often referred to as the "Sunshine State", Queensland is home to 10 of Australia's 30 largest cities and is the nation's third largest economy. Tourism in the state, fuelled largely by its warm tropical climate, is a major industry. Queensland was first inhabited by Aboriginal Australians and Torres Strait Islanders. The first European to land in Queensland (and Australia) was Dutch navigator Willem Janszoon in 1606, who explored the west coast of the Cape York Peninsula near present-day Weipa. In 1770, Lieutenant James Cook claimed the east coast of Australia for the Kingdom of Great Britain. The colony of New South Wales was founded in 1788 by Governor Arthur Phillip at Sydney; New South Wales at that time included all of what is now Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania. Queensland was explored in subsequent decades until the establishment of a penal colony at Brisbane in 1824 by John Oxley. Penal transportation ceased in 1839 and free settlement was allowed from 1842. The state was named in honour of Queen Victoria, who on 6 June 1859 signed Letters Patent separating the colony from New South Wales. The 6th of June is now celebrated annually statewide as Queensland Day. Queen Victoria, who went on to become Britain and Australia's second longest reigning monarch, chose an eponymous name for the colony over Cooksland, which had been suggested by the influential local Presbyterian minister John Dunmore Lang in honour of navigator James Cook. Queensland achieved statehood with the Federation of Australia on 1 January 1901. Dixie’s Aluminium Aussie plates are are extremely high quality and Australian manufactured with 37x13cm being the same size as those on a normal vehicle, and they have embossed characters and an embossed border If you would like plates made to your own design, we can easily do this for you. Virtually anything you want can be created with our modern digital equipment.  The key is good art, and we can do ANY GRAPHIC!    ANY DESIGN!    ANY COLOUR! • TORANA

The TORANA novelty plate is all about the the Holden Torana – a mid-sized car manufactured by Holden from 1967 to 1980. The name comes from an Aboriginal word meaning “to fly”. The first Torana (HB series) was released in 1967 and was a four-cylinder compact vehicle with origins in the British Vauxhall Vivas of the mid-1960s. Whilst the 1969-73 (LC and LJ series) cars included more popular, longer-wheelbase six-cylinder versions, and with the 1974-77 (LH and LX series) cars adding eight-cylinder versions to the mix, a range of four-cylinder versions continued for the entire production life of the Torana (with later versions being marketed as the Holden Sunbird from November 1976). Changing tack in Australian motor sport, Holden released the LC Torana GTR XU-1 in 1970, with performance-enhanced drive train and handling. From this time through to the release of the Holden Commodore, the Torana remained Holden’s most successful sports performance vehicle, with many victories garnered in rallying and circuit racing. The introduction of the VB Commodore in 1978 was preceded by the arrival of the updated UC Torana/Sunbird twins, but with no sports versions or V8 engine options. The Torana was subsequently discontinued in 1979, followed by the four-cylinder Sunbird in 1980. First generation: HB Second generation : LC, LJ, TA Third generation: LH, LX, LX Sunbird, A9X option, UC Torana concept cars: Torana GTR-X; Torana Mystere; Torana TT36 The TORANA novelty number plate is the pressed embossed standard Aussie size  37cm x 13cm aluminium plate and extremely high quality, durable and long lasting and we are proud to say that it is manufactured in Queensland, Australia.

  • PACER

PACER refers to many things - In Aussie its the Valiant Pacer - released in mid 1969, a Chrysler named Valiant Pacer. A low-cost, high-power version of the bread-and-butter Valiant sedan, the Pacer featured a high-performance six-cylinder engine and three-speed manual gearbox with floor shifter. Despite a lack of exterior chrome, the VF Pacer stood out with its red and black grille, simulated-mag wheel hub caps, special body striping, 'Pacer 225' decals, and choice of "Wild Blue", "Wild Red", or "Wild Yellow" exterior colours. Although lacking the V8 of its rivals, the Pacer could reach almost 180 km/h (112 mph) and, at $2798, was $400 cheaper than the base GTS Monaro. PACER novelty number plate is the pressed embossed standard Aussie size  37cm x 13cm aluminium plate and extremely high quality, durable and long lasting and we are proud to say that it is manufactured in Queensland, Australia.
